What do I like about this game?
- Amazing story
- Graphics are over the top
- You can sympathize with the
villains (something we don't see much of)
- Unique weapons and spells
- Character Personalities are
balanced and funny
- Great Romance
- Moderately challenging
What do I NOT like about this
game?
- It takes hours at times to stockpile
magic
- GF animation can take some patience
(especially true for Eden)
The game uses GFs, or Guardian Forces.
Once junctioned with one, you don't immediately become super strong.
The
characters strength depends on you. You learn abilities through AP
earned after battles.
Magic can be "drawn" from enemies or
from draw points located all over the world and junctioned to the
abilities you have learned. Everything is dependant on you! Also, timed
hits are back for Squall and Seifer. Their weapon of choice is the
gunblade. Not only is this weapon ultra wicked, it packs quite a wallop
with or without the timed hit.
This game is HUGE! Exploration is
integral to the completion of the whole game. If you don't
explore, you could be missing out on quite a few GFs, treasures, and
side stories.
Romance is also big here. The love stories between
Squall and Rinoa, Zell and "The Girl With the Pigtail", and
Selphie and Irvine are all exceptional. You'll laugh, you'll cry, it'll
be great.
What about the female
characters?
There is one main female character, Rinoa, the
"Princess" of a small resistance movement called "The
Forest Owls". Her enemy? Her father; a renowned government
official. This story alone proves that romance and world domination is
not the only focus in the classical RPG. She is brave, determined, and a
great speaker.
This game is great all around. There is nothing
anti-female because you can personally adjust your characters so that
Selphie, Rinoa, or Quistis is the stronger one.
